Meet Simouy Seng, the Gender Program Manager at Women Peace Makers (WPM). With a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Phnom Penh University and a master’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies from Flinders University, Simouy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Deeply committed to intersectional feminism, Simouy is dedicated to advancing the gender and peacebuilding agenda. Equipped with a background in Women’s and Gender Studies, Simouy brings an intersectional feminist lens and leadership to the women, gender, and peacebuilding agenda by emphasizing the need for gender analysis—examining the unique vulnerabilities and experiences of women in violent settings. As part of her Master of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies, Simouy studied Disability Theory and Practice and Service Design. This focus provides a nuanced understanding of the intersection of disability, women, gender, and peacebuilding—critical for addressing the unique challenges faced by women with disabilities in conflict or post-conflict situations. At WPM, Simouy works on campaigns to raise awareness of gender-based violence and advocates for the integration of gender principles into national legislation and policies. Additionally, she conducts gender training sessions for civil society organizations, government personnel, and network organizations, emphasizing the importance of feminism in fostering gender equality.

Simouy is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to meet, learn from, and collaborate with all stakeholders in pursuit of transformative change for social justice.
