In 2022, WPM led a participatory study with ethnic Vietnamese communities on the Tonle Sap River in Kampong Chhnang province using Facilitative Listening Design (FLD). Conversations with 50 people revealed that the impacts of precarious legal status, relocation pressures for those living on the water, and environmental changes were all affecting the lives of those who called the area “home”. The findings show the real human side of a complex situation and provide a nuanced perspective coming more directly from those who have been (and are being) impacted themselves.
