DANA WALLACK

Ms. Dana Wallack holds a juris doctor degree from Columbia University and has twenty years’ experience working in human rights law. She has worked as an attorney in the US, including work in mediation, domestic violence, housing, and anti-discrimination. She is currently a gender expert with six years of professional experience in Cambodia working to mainstream gender sensitivity and responsiveness into Cambodia’s legal context, including labor law and gender-based violence (including sexual harassment). Since 2014, she has been a consultant to the Cambodian NGO Committee on CEDAW (NGO-CEDAW), where she has provided legal input to and gender analyses of Cambodian laws and policies using a framework of CEDAW and other human rights instruments. Ms. Wallack designed the comprehensive gender policy for NGO-CEDAW, which serves as a template for other NGOs seeking to become more gender-responsive. She also developed the current, widely-used monitoring template for collecting data on gender and other intersectional issues under the CEDAW framework. She is currently in charge of analyzing and drafting CSO shadow reports to the UN CEDAW Committee as well as gender-themed reports to other UN processes including the last UPR session.
